ELC/School Readiness & VPK
Florida’s School Readiness Program or SR offers financial assistance to eligible low-income families for early education and care so they can become financially self-sufficient and their young children can be successful in school in the future. Services vary based on individual needs and range from extended day care to after-school and school-age care in some instances
The Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program – or VPK – is a free prekindergarten program for 4 and 5-year-olds who reside in Florida. Participating children must be 4 year of age on or before September 1.
Step Up for students
With a Step Up For Students Scholarship, your K-12 student has more school options. The Florida Tax Credit and Family Empowerment Scholarships give families a choice of financial assistance toward private school tuition and fees.
This scholarship is for Florida students 3 years old through 12th grade or age 22, whichever comes first, with one of the following diagnoses:
• Anaphylaxis
• Autism spectrum disorder
• Being a high-risk child
• Cerebral Palsy
• Down syndrome
• Emotional or a behavioral disability
• Hearing impairment, including deafness
• Hospital or homebound
• Identification as dual sensory impaired
• Intellectual disability
• Language impairment
• Muscular dystrophy
• Orthopedic impairment
• Other health impairment
• Phelan-McDermid syndrome
• Prader-Willi syndrome
• Rare diseases
• Specific learning disability
• Speech impairment
• Spina bifida
• Traumatic brain injury
• Visual impairment, including blindness
• Williams syndrome
Age requirements:
• Students must be at least 3 or 4 on or before Sept 1.
• Students entering kindergarten must be 5 on or before Sept 1.
• Students entering first grade must be 6 on or before Sept 1.

BOOKClub
Program Description: The Children's Trust Book Club mails free books to all parents with children ages birth through their 5th birthday living in Miami-Dade County. All book club members receive a new book every month in English or Spanish along with a guide for parents with activities, information and suggestions about how to share the book with their children. All books are selected specifically to help children develop their early reading skills for school readiness.
How to register for The Children's Trust Book Club? Parents may register or visiting The Children's Trust website which includes all the information regarding the program.
